Who am I? It’s a question so many of us often ask ourselves. We try and define who we are and what we represent. Often times this task is difficult and requires assistance from a friend or family member. This past week the new semester started and in many of my classes, I was asked to write a self-introduction. As I was writing, I often looked over to my best friend for help. She would talk about me and I would create sentences from what she said. We would take a sip of coffee. I would speak about her and she would write. This continued until we had both written something that described ourselves in a way that we were best represented.
If you read my last and blog post, you know that I promised to tell you more a little about myself. First off let me introduce myself, my name is Bri, short for Brianna. I am from the mid-western part of the United States and was raised on the stereotypical mid-western diet of meat and potatoes. I grew up going to church every Sunday morning and attended Sunday school. My two parents worked hard to make sure my younger brother and I never went without. To some, my life may sound like the American dream with a white picket fence and a dog; however, we have no white picket fence and no dog. Instead we have a cat, named Snickers. Throughout this crazy journey called life I’ve experienced my share of ups and downs. Through it all, I’ve always had one thing to fall back to, my faith. Those that know me know that I am a tender and caring soul who enjoys loving on people and sharing my faith more than anything else. I also enjoy good company, deep conversations, and a hot cup of tea. You can just about guarantee that on any given day you will find me at the coffee shop or out to lunch with my friends laughing and chatting. At times when you can’t find me with friends, you can look for me at the gym, on the tennis court, or at the pool. My friends call me the “fitness junkie” of the group as I am constantly finding new workouts to push my body. I may or may not be known to wake up at four or five in the morning just to fit in a killer workout at the gym before school. I am an avid tennis player, participating in traveling tennis and my school’s varsity tennis team. My true passion is swimming and I am a lifelong swimmer. My love of the water pushed me to become a swimming lesson instructor and now, a lifeguard. I can’t imagine my life without the pool; it’s something that’s become a part of me, something I can’t wait to go back to. Throughout these next few weeks, my life will start to pick up the pace and become slightly more hectic. Between classes, swimming, and work it may take me slightly longer to write again, but until then God bless! Xoxo, Bri

We’ve all been there; we tell ourselves that the New Year means a new us. We create resolutions that many times only last a few weeks if we’re lucky. I hate New Year’s resolutions. Why do I hate something that seems to be so good? I hate them for one simple reason. If you really wanted to create a resolution and follow through with it, you’d create your resolution and act upon it when you felt it was right, not when the whole world is doing it.
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. You hate the idea of New Year’s resolutions, but you decide to start blogging on New Year’s? Isn’t that a New Year’s resolution? My answer to you is no. This blog is not a resolution. This blog is something I’ve always wanted to start, but decided to wait to begin until the beginning of 2016. I didn’t decide to start now as some kind of a resolution, I decided I would start my blog at this time because this next year will be a year in which I grow and change because life is forcing me to, not because I created some resolution. This next year will be a year of changes for me. Certain chapters in my life will be coming to a close while other chapters will start to open. In order for me to help keep a record of life throughout this next year and hopefully many more years, I decided to start blogging now. My hope is that throughout this year I will be able to write blog entries that show you the real me. I want you to connect with me as I make some pretty big changes in my life and I want to be able to connect with you. In order for you to connect with me, you need to know more about me. This first post is leaving you with nothing but my name, Bri, and my take on New Year’s resolutions. Next week I will be posting about me in hopes that you will start to connect with me. For now, I wish you all a blessed New Year! Xoxo, Bri |
